Coaches, Officials and Administrators:

  

Bob Thompson: (Administrator)


Member of the Boys' Basketball   Committee 1970-1991 as Coordinator of media and Public Relations, and a   member of the NYSPHSAA Tournament Committee which, under the direction of   Bill Farrell, started the State High School Basketball Championships in 1978,   which brought the Tournament to Rochester for the first three years   (1978-1980). In the community, has has been active in the Press-Radio Club   and a member of the Rochester Community Baseball Board of Directors. Press   room Chairman for the LPGA 1979-1983. Retired Administrator with BOCES 2 in   Spencerport.
 

Michael Palermo: (Official)


IAABO Board 60 Official for Boys'   Basketball, 1967-2003, where he served as an Official, Executive Committee   Member and Past President. Also a member, Executive Committee Member and Past   President of Women's Basketball, CWNYBOWS, 1975-2002. Currently the game   assigner of officials for Monroe County (1991-Present) and previously the   assigner for the City-Catholic and Livingston County Leagues, 1991-1998. The   Ronald McDonald All-Star Basketball game co-founder, and still remains an   integral part of this annual event.

  

Vito Costanza: (Coach)


Retired Physical Education teacher   and Basketball Coach at Edison Tech, where he served two coaching terms,   1954-1964 and 1966-1975, achieving a career record of 280 wins and 140 losses   (.667) in his 21 years. Was also a basketball official for 24 years with   IABBO Board 60. Received the Mayor's Trophy in 1972, when only one coach in   Section V was named Coach of the Year, among all classifications

 


Players:

  

Katrina Ercole (Katrina Messenger)

Outstanding player at Penfield   High School, 1978-1982, where she was named Female Athlete of the Year in   1982. Earned a four-year scholarship to NCAA Division I Villanova University,   where she graduated in 1986.

 

Tanesha James

An Edison Tech graduate, she was   named to the Rochester City All-Star team twice, and in her senior year   averaged 18.7 points, 4 steals and 5.3 rebounds per game, leading the   Inventors to the section V Class BB championship, where she earned MVP   honors. She was also named to the All Greater Rochester team that year. Went   on to a college career filled with honors at Monroe Community and Roberts   Wesleyan.

 

Mitch Jones

East High graduate of 1974, where   he played four seasons on the Varsity, and was a three-time member of the All   Greater Rochester Team, 1972-1974. His East High Orientals won consecutive   titles in Class AA, 1973 and 1974.

 

Jim Klimschot  (Deceased)

Member of the Webster Thomas   squads of 1972-1974, where he earned All Greater Rochester Honors in '73 and   '74. He went on to establish himself as an impact player at the University of   Rochester, where he still holds the record for the most foul shots made in a   single game (18). He is a member of the Frontier Walk of fame and the University   of Rochester Athletic Hall of fame.

  

Kelly O'Neill

A four-year Varsity starter for   Mercy High (1992-1995). Was team captain the last three years of her career   at Mercy. She was a three-time member of the All Greater Rochester team,   four-time Private/Parochial All-Star, four-time Section V All-Star, two-time   Section V Champion, twice a finalist for the Sports Woman of the Year Award,   MVP of the Ronald McDonald Senior All-Star Team in 1995, went past the 1,000   benchmark for both points scored and rebounds while at Mercy. Was also a   standout soccer player at Mercy, recording 29 career shutouts while in the   goal, and made the All Greater Rochester Soccer team twice. Went on to become   a star at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. After graduation, she was part   of 2 National Championships as an assistant coach at Monroe Community; one in   soccer, and another in basketball.

 

Stephen Puccia

Played 4-year career at East   Rochester (70,71) and Pittsford (72,73). Was named All-County First Team   three times (71, 72, 73), and was named Section V All-Tournament Team in '71   at East Rochester and '73 at Pittsford. Given All Greater Rochester honors in   1972 and 1973, and was named All New York State Third Team in 1973.

 

Brian Quinlan

A 1995 graduate of Dansville High,   where he and his teammates achieved the school's best basketball record of   18-5. The Mustangs won the Livingston County Championship in 1993, and to the   Class B Section V semi-finals in 1995. Individually, Brian averaged 26.2   points per game in 1994 and 34.5 points per game in his senior year ('95). He   holds the Livingston County record for the most points in a game ('95), was a   Livingston County All-Star in '94 and '95, and was a Ronald McDonald All-Star   in 1995. During that same year, he was named to the NYS Class B All-State   seventh team. He went on to play for Alfred University, where he was the   Emp[ire Association's Rookie of the Year in 1996. His career there included   establishing a record for most 3-point field goals made in a career, and   currently id fourth all-time scorer for the university with 1,487 points.

 

Tony Scott

East High graduate. Was a two-time   AGR selection in 1987, 1988.

 

Anthony Spennacchio

Was a three-year star at Madison   High School (1945-1947), where he was named to the All-Scholastic Team each   year. Also played varsity football and baseball. Played his college   basketball at Brockport State, and has been named to the Brockport Sports   Hall of Fame. Played for the East Rochester Pauls in a semi-pro league, and   was given a tryout for the Rochester Royals in 1954. Was elected to the   Monroe County Athletes Hall of fame in 1976 and the Section V Football Hall   of fame in 2000. He is a retired school teacher and Assistant Superintendent   at gates-Chili Central School District.

  

Shawna Williams

Played for Greece Athena   1991-1995, and was the 1995 MVP of the Section V Tournament. That same year,   she was named Greece Athlete of the Year. While at Athena, she was also the   1994 and 1995 Section V Pentathlon Champion in track and field. She played   one year at Monroe Community College (1997), where she was the Conference   Player of the Year, and was named to the NJCAA 1st Team All-American. Her   college shifted to Roberts Wesleyan, where in three years, she was named   American Mideast Conference Player of the Year in 2000, NCCAA (National   Christian College) 1st team All-American and NAIA 3rd Team All-American.
